The 12-week Medical Assisting Specialist Program at Boardman Training Center (BTC) is designed to prepare students for a career as medical assistants in the Youngstown, New Castle, and Boardman areas. The program covers a wide range of topics, including basics in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, patient identification, and infection control.

EKG Program

Students receive an introduction to an electrocardiograph (EKG) machine and heart monitors, and an understanding of EKG results. Skills acquired include identifying basic normal EKG waveform morphology, describing the normal physiology of cardiac conduction, distinguishing among basic dysrhythmias, and describing the distinguishing features and associated treatments for each.
