Introducing BTC’s Featured Student of the Month, Alyssa Hunter!
Boardman Training Center (BTC) is thrilled to introduce Alyssa Hunter, our featured student for the month of December.
Alyssa is completing the Medical Assisting Specialist program at BTC, where she is learning the essential skills for her future healthcare career. As a medical assisting student, Alyssa will be exposed to hands-on training and certification* preparation to equip her with the knowledge, skills, and experience to thrive in the medical field.
Before attending BTC, Alyssa attended a satellite campus of a larger college but was not fond of the environment or her course of study. When she decided to shift her education to Boardman Training Center, she wanted a friendly and welcoming institution.
Prior to enrolling in BTC’s Medical Assisting Specialist program, she had completed the EKG program. Upon completing the EKG training program, Alyssa chose to continue into the medical assistant training program because she wanted to further her education and open new career doors.
When asked what her preferred class so far at BTC has been, Alyssa said she appreciates the entirety of her training but says that her medical assisting classes are her favorites. “I really enjoyed EKG, but with the MA (medical assistant) program, it’s more hands-on learning, which makes it easier to understand and retain the information given,” she said. “So far, I’ve really enjoyed this program; I look forward to having class.”
While Alyssa does not have a particular dream job, she hopes to work in a smaller medical office with a positive environment. The training, experience, and certifications* she receives from Boardman Training Center will qualify her for careers in various medical facilities and in a wide range of roles. “BTC has helped me a lot,” she said. “It’s very fast-paced and can be overwhelming, but in the end, it’s worth it.”
Another aspect of BTC that appealed to Alyssa is the cost-effectiveness of our programs. As a Boardman Training Center student, Alyssa says her proudest achievement is passing her EKG certification*. Earning industry-specific certifications is especially valuable for healthcare professionals, as they prove to employers that a third party has evaluated a candidate and meets nationally recognized skill and knowledge standards.
Each of BTC’s healthcare training programs incorporates preparation for National Healthcareer Association certification* exams. By completing the EKG and Medical Assisting Specialist programs, Alyssa is prepared to sit for the Certified EKG Technician (CET)*, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)*, and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)* exams.
Additionally, students in BTC’s Phlebotomy program are prepared to sit for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)* exam, and students in the Medical Billing and Coding Specialist program are prepared to sit for the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS)* exam.
