Hands-On EKG Training
BTC’s EKG program is offered as a short-term, accelerated training program designed to be completed in approximately 6 weeks. It combines classroom instruction with hands-on labs, enabling students to gain both general knowledge and practical skills necessary for the role.
The EKG technician training program covers a wide range of foundational and practical topics. Students learn how to operate an electrocardiograph (EKG) machine and heart monitors. They learn how to identify normal versus abnormal electrocardiograph recordings, developing the ability to recognize when a patient’s heart activity falls outside a healthy range. They also study electrocardiograph waveform morphology, gaining a clear understanding of what the various peaks, troughs, and intervals represent in a standard heart tracing.
Graduates are prepared to sit for the Certified EKG Technician (CET)* exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). This certification demonstrates to future employers that your skills have been verified by a recognized third party, helping you stand out as a qualified and reliable candidate.
