Why Choose Boardman Training Center?
Elizabeth chose to attend Boardman Training Center because of her interest in the healthcare field and the flexible schedule that BTC offers. Like many BTC students, Elizabeth lived a busy lifestyle and needed a school that allowed her to balance work, school, and personal life.
One of the many benefits that Boardman Training Center offers is the flexibility of day or evening classes. This allows students who must work and complete their training to do so without sacrificing their income source. Elizabeth appreciated the balance between school and life that our training programs provided, and she stated that she would recommend the institution to anyone because BTC’s program schedules can be flexible for a person who also works.
Another benefit of attending Boardman Training Center to train for her future healthcare career is the one-on-one instruction that Elizabeth received during her education. She said that her favorite part of her time as a student was the hands-on training she got from her teachers. Throughout her training, Elizabeth says that the EKG program instructor, Melissa Lohr, was her favorite teacher because she was always willing to help her students. Our main goal at BTC is to equip students with the hands-on skills, fundamental knowledge, and real-world experience to be confident when entering the healthcare workforce.
The skills and knowledge Elizabeth learned during her time as a BTC student led to her being prepared to sit for National Healthcare Association (NHA) certification* exams. The Phlebotomy program curriculum incorporates preparation for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)* exam, and the EKG program incorporates preparation for the Certified EKG Technician (CET)* exam.
Earning these two certifications will benefit Elizabeth during her career, proving to employers that she possesses the phlebotomy and EKG skills necessary to provide quality patient care. The NHA is a nationally recognized certification agency recognized by many healthcare employers, and the programs at Boardman Training Center are designed with the end goal of earning these certifications in mind.
Elizabeth’s Advice For Potential Students
In her time as a Boardman Training Center student, Elizabeth has learned not only the skills she needs for her career but also soft skills such as goal-setting, communication, and time management. Her training set her on on the path to her dream healthcare career of practicing phlebotomy and EKGs in a doctor’s office. In five years, she hopes to work in a hospital setting while making a difference in her patients’ lives.
Elizabeth’s advice for any potential student considering opening their healthcare career opportunities with the help of BTC is to “study as much as possible, and always ask questions,” she said. She also puts an emphasis on prioritizing physical and mental well-being during their training and beyond.
