Hands-On Career Training Since 2013
Boardman Training Center is a short-term healthcare learning center of East Ohio College. Located in Boardman, Ohio, BTC offers accelerated, career-focused training to students in Northeastern Ohio, Northern West Virginia, and Western Pennsylvania. The Boardman Training Center was established in 2013, with classes held at Boardman High School. In 2016, BTC relocated to its facility conveniently located on Ohio Route 224.

Our Programs
Boardman Training Center has been trusted to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary for healthcare careers for over a decade. As industries change, it is crucial that career training programs evolve as well. BTC meets the needs of local healthcare employers by providing students with up-to-date training in the following fields:
Medical Assisting Specialist
BTC’s 12-week Medical Assisting Specialist program is designed to prepare students to become medical assistants. Students will gain hands-on skills in patient care, including performing injections, taking vital signs, removing sutures, performing visual acuity tests, and more. They will also build knowledge of medical terminology, patient identification, infection control, and anatomy and physiology. Additionally, students in this program will be prepared to sit for two National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification exams: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)* and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)*.
EKG
Students interested in becoming EKG technicians can benefit from BTC’s 6-week EKG program. This training helps students develop essential skills, including interpreting normal and abnormal EKG readings, operating heart-monitoring equipment, recognizing basic waveform patterns, and identifying different types of dysrhythmias. Upon completing the program, students are prepared to take the NHA Certified EKG Technician (CET)* certification exam.
Phlebotomy
The 12-week Phlebotomy program is an ideal option for those seeking entry-level positions in phlebotomy. Completing the phlebotomy training program will equip students with skills in skin puncture techniques, specimen collection, basic phlebotomy skills, proper equipment usage, and more. Additionally, BTC’s phlebotomy training will prepare students to sit for the NHA’s Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)* certification exam.
Medical Billing and Coding Specialist
The 12-week, online Medical Billing and Coding Specialist is designed to introduce students to the foundational skills needed for a career in medical billing and coding. Throughout the program, students gain knowledge in areas such as basic medical coding, medical claims and fraud awareness, billing compliance, and both inpatient and outpatient coding using ICD-10 standards. Upon completion of training, graduates are prepared to sit for the NHA’s Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS)* certification exam.
